Heyhoods

From concept to product in 3 months, with a funding round closed. Stay connected with people around you and get immediate help in case of emergency. Heyhoods is a collaborative community created to help each other when problems arise, based on proximity and altruism.

The challenge

Heyhoods had no technical team to develop their  idea. We joined the Heyhoods team right on time to enrich the product concept and turn it into a focused and rich user experience considering a cross device service between mobile apps, web and hardware.

Solution

We created a unique cross-device experience for Heyhoods, spanning multiple services:

  • Native iOS / Android apps
  • Web app to share and display alert locations
  • Web manager dashboard to handle alerts in real time
  • Backend / API services
  • Physical device (button and alarm light) to trigger an alert
  • Wristband with scannable QR code

From the app, users could ask for help from nearby people by simply pressing a button. The alert allowed them to share their location in real time and start a group chat or video call with whoever responded. Alongside the app, we developed a web management panel to centrally monitor all active alerts.

In parallel, we opened certain API features so that other external platforms or devices could integrate and use the alarm and geolocation services. One real use case was the creation of identification wristbands for children, with a QR code linked to a parent's phone number, designed for large public events. If a child got lost, scanning the wristband automatically triggered an SMS alert to the parent's device and opened a landing page to track the child's location in real time.

We also ran proof-of-concept tests with hardware, including physical buttons to trigger alerts without needing the app, aimed at elderly people or those with reduced mobility. These buttons connected to an alarm light that activated upon receiving an alert — a concept designed to be installed at central city locations such as bus stops.
