The problem
SEFAC wanted to launch Indica Plus, a pharmaceutical indication app to support community pharmacists. However, they had no mobile development experience or technical resources to manage the project. The app needed to integrate with their own Drupal-based SSO, requiring a complex authentication process between SEFAC's environment and the app. Added to this was the challenge of digitising a physical protocols book — the reference guide pharmacists rely on daily — in order to structure all that information and make it accessible from a mobile application. On top of that, the launch was tied to their national congress, imposing very tight deadlines and demanding the highest levels of stability and performance.
The solution
At Liquid Studio, we took ownership of the entire project: definition, design, prototyping, backend, and mobile app. On the technology side, we built the app using Flutter and developed a management backoffice with Laravel. We worked on the digitisation of the protocols book to bring structure to all the clinical information, defining the data model that allows pharmacists to look up symptoms and treatments from the app, and gives the SEFAC team the ability to manage and maintain that content from the backoffice. We designed and prototyped both tools, working closely with SEFAC to align requirements, resolve the authentication integration, and iterate until we reached a robust, launch-ready solution.
The result
The launch took place at SEFAC's national congress — a setting that demanded flawless performance and zero downtime. The presentation was a complete success. Today, Indica Plus is used daily by hundreds of pharmacists to guide and improve the care provided to people visiting pharmacies. It has become a key resource within SEFAC's offering and a real solution for pharmaceutical indication and patient follow-up.
